the three pillars of exposure: aperture, iso, shutter speed

APERTURE

F2.8 Aperture setting
F16 aperture setting

1. The human eye.
2. The smaller aperture, the higher f number and the higher aperture the smaller f number.
3. Aperture impacts depth of field because it can make a photographer much more sharper by blurring out the background.

SHUTTERSPEED

High shutter speed

Slow shutter speed
REASONABLE LIGHT
A. Fast
B. Fast
C. Medium
D. Medium
E. Slow
F. Fast

DARK
A. fast
B. fast
C. medium
D. medium
E. slow
F. slow

There are two ways to manually set the shutter speed: Shutter priority mode, where you set the shutter speed and the camera selects the aperture by itself. Manuel mode, where you set both shutter speed and aperture manually. Aperture Priority mode, you set the lens aperture, while the camera sets the shutter speed by itself.
ISO

 iso: 200

 iso: 3200
1. You can have intensely clear photos depending on iso.
2. When there is plenty of light, you should always use the lowest ISO, to retain the most detail and to have the highest image quality.
3. You should increase the ISO when there is not enough light for the camera to be able to quickly capture an image.

Great Black and White photographers part 3

1.) What first caught your eye while looking at your photographers photos? Is there something in particular about their photos that made you want to choose them?

2.) Look at those 2 photos you posted last time in the assignment Great Black and White Photographers Part 2. Use your five senses to tell me more about those photos. Answer them on your blog.
  1. Great Black and White Photographers
The odd viewpoint of the mountain caught my attention in this photo, i was drawn in by it.

The waterfall first caught my eye in this photo, and i love the black and white scenery of such a large scaled nature scene.

GREAT BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHERS TOO

This photo drew me in with the random women placed throughout the photo, they had caught my eye. I like the era that this photo was taken in. You can see these women and the workers below, you can feel the older times pulling you in, i can hear the yelling of merchants and business men.

This photo drew me in with the nazi camp look alike, i am very interested in the holocaust. I can feel the anger and hatred emitting from the prisoner. I can see the tension between the two and smell the stench of 100 filthy prisoners. i can touch the heart of those in the suits to only feel nothing but emptiness. This photo truly speaks.

Id like to create a photo that shows the true love between the people at akins high school because we truly our a family and hurt together when we lose classmates.

AFRICA

Nick Brandt used a Pentax 6711to capture this photograph of an elephant in Africa. Brandt captured this photo graph because he was afraid a man was out to kill africa and these animals. By capturing these photos Brandt hopes to show off the true beauty and nature of Africa and its creatures. This is my favorite photo because the elephant is my favorite animal, i love a black an white effect on any photo and its a great photo of the creatures details and such like the creases within its skin.

Academics Shoot Reflection

1) I faced creativity challenges that i overcame with the very simple objects in a school and by capturing these rules actively showing in a workplace.

2) The avoiding mergers rule puzzled me for the longest until i was welcomed by a student who gave me the bright idea to capture him next to a chalk board the same color as his shirt. To top it off we through another girls green scarf on him for the photo.

3) Id capture a different photo for the rule of framing.

4) Id keep most of my photos as they are all perfect with showing the rules.

5) Line will always be the easiest to achieve since lines are everywhere.

6) The hardest to capture will be the rule of thirds as i am always puzzled by it.

7) Im not totally clear not the rule of thirds and i can go back to my notes post to perhaps look it over again to get a better understanding.

Rule of thirds

Avoiding Mergers

Balance

Part 2

Line: I followed the rule very well by displaying the lines that run along an air conditioner unit. The subject is an air conditioner unit in a classroom. The object is clear to people in the photo. I followed the rule well so nothing needs to be improved upon.

Framing: I followed this rule by shooting a photo through a triangular metal frame capturing the class through this frame. The subject is the class in the frame which is the metal triangle. The object is clear as the frame is blurred for effect. To improve next time perhaps i could capture the frame clearly.

Simplicity: I followed this rule well with the simplicity of a heart design on a student's back pack. The heart design on the backpack is the subject. The picture is crystal clear and you can easily tell the pattern and simplicity of the photo and design. Perhaps next time i won't capture the buckle to keep it as a basic hearts only.

Rule of thirds: For rule of thirds i captured multiple folders cataloged with one off in the distance and they are running sideways, capturing it very well. The folder tags with the periods labeled are the subjects. The tags are clear in the middle as others are blurred for a great effect. Nothing needs to be improved on this photo.

Avoiding Mergers: For avoiding mergers i followed the rule excellent by showing a student with a green t shirt and scarf blending in with the chalk board behind him. The greens are the subject of the photo, the merger easily recognized. The picture is very clear and nothing needs to be improved upon.

Balance: For balance i captured the symmetry of a human body excellent. The subject ( the teacher ) is standing within the middle of the room teaching her students as i capture her body's symmetry. The object is very clear and this rule does not need to be improved upon.

Academics shoot preview

I put this photo as the " ACTION " because this photo displays a chemical reaction from to components. Its chemistry at its finest.

I put this photo as the " MOST INTERESTING " because i think the photograph displays a chemical change that shows off a lovely purple color. This photo appealed to me with the mysterious mist floating from what looks like a blow torch.

This photo tells the " BEST STORY " in my opinion because it shows the strength and bond in mankind between one human and another, this photo displays food being handed out to those who are unfortunate and cannot obtain it themselves. Or perhaps this photo displays a team of people helping with some kind of natural disaster relief by giving food to those who lost everything.
I picked this photo because i found the sphere in the middle of the photo to be strange and interesting. The rules of photography that are evident in this photo are balance which is the balance of mother nature in the photo as well as shape because the sphere is a main shape in this photo.

I could take photos like the ones i saw today as children are outside participating in some activity, or while a band or team is practicing or hearing a inspirational speech. Id like to visit my chemistry classroom to perhaps capture an experiment in a shot. To get amazing photos like the ones I've seen today i will use creativity and the " normal " of life to obtains peculiar view of seeing things from a side not seen before.

national geographic warmup

Im fond of this photograph because of the colors and detail in it. The different greens look absolutely beautiful within the eyes and the picture truly focuses on the fish and its load carried waiting to hatch. This photo demonstrated great contrast and perfect detail, it was just an amazing photo. To capture the world around me id capture a photograph of millions of people, working in places like china, in factories that underpay. The chinese practically owns the U.S as we get most of our products off them and they lend us a lot of money, capturing chinas abused workforce will capture the affect of what people go through to produce our everyday items.

Avoiding Mergers

I chose this photo for avoiding mergers because the smoke draws your attention away from the building and the smaller details such as the people in the windows.

Framing

This photo used framing through the main idea being captured through a window that allows the window frame to act like a frame for the photo.

Balance

This photo defines balance because the green in the photo and the warm blue sky match perfectly as the  grass and trees are a similar green.

Lines

This photo demonstrates lines on the sides of multiple buildings as well as on a crane that intersects with the building.

The Rule of Thirds

This photo demonstrates the rule of thirds by showing items within the rear view of the photo and the method is shown well.

Simplicity

This photo demonstrates simplicity by being a direct photo about the main idea in the photo.

Elements of art and principles of design in photography (Cont.)

Line: This painting showed lines through the statues created by the indians with the faces on them.

Shape: Multiple shapes are compressed in this photo and that is why i selected it.

Color: The color contrasts with the main picture and gives the photo a purpose

Value: The tone of this flowers color makes a huge emphasis on the photo.

Form: This photo shows multiple forms of people communicating

Texture: I chose texture because this photo shows multiple textures as the bull is not on a flat surface but a bumpy cave wall.

Space: In this painting the man is in a kind of space with a moon behind him and some kind of energy surrounding him.

Balance: I chose American Goth as balance because this photo shows a balance in the main object and surrounding area. Both objects are similar.

Contrast: The kiss shows multiple contrasting colors and shapes on the couple

Emphasis: The paintings of edgar mueller show an emphasis on real life 4d objects. The emphasis of actuality

Movement: The school of athens displays movement and a frenzy of athenian people.

Pattern: Cafe at night displays a floor pattern on the concrete tile of the scene.

Rhythm: The great way displays the rhythm in waves and the ocean

Unity: I chose this photo because it showed the unity of mankind and of the law enforcement and its citizens.
